Different Cataract Types

There are three different types of cataracts you need to know about:

Cortical cataracts: This type of cataract was formed in the bark of the lens. Over time, a formation of cortical cataracts extended from the outside of the lens toward the center. This type of cataract is the same for diabetic patients.

Nuclear cataracts: nuclear cataracts are the most common type of cataract. Forming in the center of the lens, this type of cataract is caused by the normal process of aging. When this first cataract forms, you have also experienced improved vision. However, this effect does not last long.

Subcapsular cataract: This form of cataract starts at the back of the lens. If you are using steroids, have diabetes or have a vision of the future, which may be susceptible to cataracts supcapsular.

Fortunately, the three types of cataracts can be removed with ophthalmic cataract laser surgery. Today, surgeons in the use of lasers and other innovative technologies to remove a cataract patient with minimal risk or inconvenience. Some cataract operations will remove the cloudy lens and replace it with a plastic lens called intraocular lens.
